we’re holding your words with care,

cristina lezcano

editor-in-chief, founder

An MFA candidate who believes academia does not make the writer, Cristina took to several lined journals and came to the conclusion that writing is not without a community. Effy was a fleeting thought years ago, made corporeal through support found along the pilgrimage. They have stories published in Furrow, t’ART, and elsewhere.

anaiza medina

managing editor, founder

A Monmouth University Alumni, Anaiza has a love for helping other writers find their voice. Her work goes beyond editing, failing to limit her interests in poetry, short stories, literary analysis, and bookbinding. Through Effy, she hopes to enrich budding, hidden writers with confidence and experience as they reach their potential.

camryn gurecki

fiction editor

Having loved writing since she could hold a pencil, Camryn has work published both in print and online, ranging from academic research papers to blog posts. When she’s not writing, she enjoys listening to true crime podcasts, crocheting, and reading. Currently, Camryn is an MFA student at William Paterson University with aspirations to become a professor and novelist.

madison bednarik

Madison is an MFA candidate passionate about the connections that can be made through the written word. She is thrilled to be a part of a publication that allows writers to share and feel seen. Her work has been published both in print and online, and was previously featured in Effy prior to her joining the staff.
